Monkshood: ORIGINAL painting of Colorado wildflower
Original watercolor painting of Monkshood. The beautiful monkshood is a wildflower usually found along the wetter parts of trails that I hike in the springtime in the mountains of Colorado. There are several pealike blooms on really tall stalks, and the color is an amazingly rich purple blue tone. This modern art is certain to add interest wherever you display it: office wall art, den, bedroom, cubicle or any small space needing a touch of interest and color. I painted this using artist quality pigments on archival 140lb Arches cold pressed paper. It will come in your choice of framed or unframed. Just use the drop down menu to make your choice. Monkshood, (genus Aconitum), also called wolfsbane or aconite, genus of more than 200 species of showy perennial herbs of the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae). They occur in the north temperate zone, usually in partial shade and in rich soil. Some species are cultivated as ornamental plants, and several are used in traditional medicine, although all species are considered extremely poisonous. TITLE: Monkshood SIZE: Painting is 8" x 8" unframed; framed size is 13" x 13" - you can choose either a black frame or white frame.
