The acrylic stand should be cleaned by hand with soap and water and is not recommended to go in the dishwasher. The acrylic is 1/2" material that is sturdy and will not wobble unlike other manufacturers that use 3/8" thick acrylic. The stand comes with two hand holds that allows you to pick it up easily. You can pick it up without spilling its contents moving it. The base of the stand comes with an anti skid tape that will stop your frisky pet from pushing the stand around and spilling the contents.
