Advent wall art for the season! This vintage angel for Advent helps us observe the liturgical time before Christmas, especially Gaudete Sunday, which is the 3rd Sunday of Advent. The lovely angel image comes from an old vintage Christmas postcard which has been adapted to the season of Advent - this is a time of expectation and preparation. Christmas is not quite here yet! Our sweet angel announces to the world, “Gaudete in Dómine Semper”, which means “Rejoice in the Lord at all times”. These words come from the Introit on Gaudete Sunday in the Traditional Latin Mass. Below the Angel are the words from the Gradual chant of the same day: “O Lord, enthroned above the Cherubim, stir up your might and come.” Although rose is the proper color for the third Sunday of Advent, the text of the words are a nod to the overall liturgical color of Advent, which is violet. Finally, we can truly embrace Advent instead of being rushed through Christmas before it has even arrived! This wall art can be given as a gift to a friend or family member on St. Nicolas’ Day (Dec 6th) to help them fully live out the season.
