This Blue Star Mom ornament is a must have for your Christmas tree if you are a military mom. It is a glass disc ornament painted inside with silver glitter (so it won't shed glitter all over!) On the outside is the Blue Star Mom logo in red and blue vinyl. The top of the ornament is adorned with blue and white twine, patriotic ribbon and a metal stamped dog tag that says "Blue Star Mom" (with a heart as well). The Blue Star Mothers of America are a group of mothers across the United States who have children serving in the military or children who are veterans. The name came from the custom of families of servicemen hanging a banner called a Service Flag in a window of their homes. The Service Flag had a star for each family member in the military. Living servicemen were represented by a Blue Star and those who had lost their lives were represented by a Gold Star.
