This image is a portrait of a chairlift in The Canyons Resort in Utah. The composition is a combination of oil paint and spray paint. I make a stencil within the image and lay it in with spray paint. I then go back in and fill in all the lovely details with oil paint. I appreciate the juxtaposition of the two techniques. It also allows for a bit of uncontrolled variety in the outcome of the work. I like to take lots of photographs while I'm on my snowboarding vacations and come home and make paintings from them. I have been snowboarding for over 24 years. I love how it keeps me active during the winter months. It keeps me excited to travel too. And I never run out of chairlifts to paint! This painting measures 36"x 48". I built the canvas.
