Hamsa (khamsa), also called Hand of Fatima and also the Hand of Miriam, is an amulet prevalent throughout the Middle East and Northern Africa to ward off the Evil Eye. It's worn in jewelry and used in the home as a wall hanging. Turkish antique-look pewter Hamsa is epoxied to a large powerful slice of natural chrysoprase. The slice is 1-5/8" x1-3/8" x 1/4" (42x34x5mm), flat on the front and back sides, and polished smooth. Color is halfway between light turquoise and mint, or maybe a pale green seafoam. Some stones have brown veining. Because of the variation in gemstones, each stone will be slightly different although the same approximate size as the piece in the picture. Top bead is 10mm round aqua jasper. The entire center dangle is 2-1/2" (65mm) long. Necklace is on a 4mm brown leather cord, 25" (63cm) long and finished with a silver-tone lobster clasp.
