The background of the canvas ( outside the circle is a very nice variegated yarn called prairie grass. It gives the pillow just enough soft colors to coordinate with the cactus design in the center and sage green fabric. The pattern and the colors chosen are a true artistic expression. The kit has everything you need to complete the south west cactus design pillow. I painted the design on canvas and attached it to the pillow form.
