Chiroptera of the Western Carpathians – Women’s A colossal bat that was originally sighted in the early 1950’s. It is said to live among the caves of the Carpathian Mountains throughout the eastern wing of Europe. About the size of a Volkswagen Beetle, this deceptive and destructive behemoth has been said to feast on livestock, damage nearby power lines and even fly off with an unguarded toddler. Most consider the myth to be a combination of folklore and hoaxes, some say the creature is a warning of impending doom and others say it’s a scientific experiment gone awry.
