Every wood slice is unique (shape, bark edge, rings, saw marks), but I think the imperfections in a natural item are what make it perfect! The back of the ornament is also decorated. I coat each design with sealer to protect the painting, and finish with a loop of twine decorated with a bead and bow - ready to hang and enjoy. I have Barred Owls visiting my yard all the time. I love to listen to them calling at night. I've been able to take many reference photos, and Barred Owls have been a favorite painting subject for me. The owl on this ornament is surrounded by a starry sky, and the back of the ornament is painted with stars and comets on a dark blue background.
