Hand Turned Rustic Painted Primitive Wood Bowl
Welcome to our listing. This hand painted bowl was turned from a piece of oak taken from a tree dropped on our property by Hurricane Ida two years ago. After the bowl was finished on the lathe, it was allowed to dry completely prior to painting. I base painted the entire piece in Country Red by Olde Century Color. Then applied scattered patches of hyde glue to create a crackled finish in the top coat. The top coat is Cobblestone by Heirloom Traditions. After the paint completely dried, I sanded it using varying levels of pressure, flyspecked it in gray, black, and white, then applied antiquing glaze in driftwood gray and black. Finally, after it dried, I sealed it using clear chalk paint wax and topped that with a coat of beeswax. This is meant to be a decorative piece and will not hold water without some sort of liner; nor would I recommend putting food in it. It would look amazing with balls of yarn or fabric, or just sitting on a shelf by itself. It is 2 7/8 inches tall and it measures 7 1/4 inches across. It is a one of a kind item, since it involves two hand made processes by two different people (my husband turned it and I painted it). Our listings will show a 3 to 5 day processing time because we live in a very rural area. Odds are good we will ship quickly, but need the wiggle room....just in case life happens!
