Handcrafted in Sparta, NJ with locally sourced hardwoods by John and Mike. These are not overseas or 3rd party boards that we just engrave on. We hand make each one of them. Our standard peel uses locally sourced black walnut with cherry accents and a hard maple handle. They measure about 12”x12” (standard) or 15"x15" (large) 24" overall. Our peels are 5/8" thick (no wimpy 1/4" here) and tapered from top to bottom, with the bottom edge beveled on both sides, allowing reversable use. The peel is sanded to 220 grit, water "popped" and sanded again with 220. After sanding the peel gets a mineral oil bath and a final finish of food safe wood wax. This finishing process allows for longevity with proper care (adding wax to board) and it also helps the pizzas etc. slide right off!
