There is a clear layer on top for added protection, shine and depth. These coasters are sturdy, 4 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick. Because they are handmade, variations and blemishes may occur. The variations add to the beauty of the item, highlighting the hand crafted quality. Because all coasters are handcrafted one at a time, they may have natural blemishes or variations that are inherent to the handmade process. Food safe and heat resistant to 165 degrees. Care: Hand wash as needed in warm soapy water and dry with a soft cloth. As a resin artist, I recognize that this is not the most eco-friendly medium. To balance this, I do my best to minimize waste during production, use recycled or compostable shipping materials when possible and even recycle some of the shipping materials I receive in products I order to pack some of my shipments, while still keeping the packaging and unboxing a pleasant experience.
