Inmarsat Satellite Antenna 1540mhz 1.54Ghz 12db gain Helix RHCP Iridium ACARS Ham Radio
After looking for a decent antenna for use with Inmarsat and other L-band satellites (I.E. Iridium) I found the pickings to be slim and pretty pricey. So I decided to make my own and after many failures and hours spent I made this one which works really good. I got thinking that maybe others who are looking to get into satellite stuff maybe have same issues. I decided to make a handful and list here. This one is centered at 1.55Ghz and is designed for receive only. You will need a LNA to receive decodable signals, at least in my findings. **I have added a few nanoVNA screenshots after being asked about the SWR, We have just started to fine tune these to the lowest SWR as close as possible to advertised frequency. Due to the nature of antennas no two will be the same. The range is pretty much between 1.2 to 1.6 Video is Inmarsat 4F3 98W using a RTL-SDR Blog v3 and a Nooelec Lana LNA. Your results may vary depending on location, line of site, overall radio noise level, etc..
