Linocut Registration Jig for Printmaking
Registration errors waste ink, paper, and time. When printing multi color linocuts or working through a reduction series, even small misalignments can ruin an edition. Eyeballing placement is unreliable, and complex pin systems or DIY setups slow the process down. This linocut registration jig is designed to make consistent alignment simple and repeatable. Place your unmounted linoleum block into the corner of the jig. Align your paper edge to any grid line and mark it with painter’s tape. Print. Every sheet after that lands in the same position, making clean, consistent editions easy to achieve. The 1/8 inch grid provides precise control without complicated hardware or long setup times. Corner alignment keeps your block stable for every print. Made from 1/8 inch laser cut acrylic, the jig measures 4 inches by 9.25 inches and features clearly labeled grid lines marked every 1/2 inch. Acrylic cleans easily and will not absorb ink. This jig works for multi color linocuts, reduction printing, and single color editions. It is suitable for press printing or hand printing with a baren or spoon. Compatible with unmounted linoleum, rubber blocks, wood blocks, and Speedball Speedy Carve materials that are at least 1/8 inch thick. Thinner or mounted blocks can be shimmed to height using cardstock or scrap material. Designed and tested in a working print studio. Custom sizes are available upon request. Note: These jigs are cut to order. Please allow up to 10 days processing time.
