The base is covered with Mesh Ribbon which is waterproof and holds its shape in either hot/cold temperatures. All ribbons in my wreaths are wired-edged, this will hold shape if wet/hot/cold temperatures. All larger decorations are WIRED to the wreath base with covered wire, to decrease the possibility of scratches to door/wall/table.
