This is a Papuan Frogmouth (NOT an owl!!). These cool birds are found in Australia and New Guinea. Their usual fare is ground-dwelling insects, but the bird's froglike mouth will open wide enough for it to gobble up....guess what? A tasty frog! Original watercolor on 140# Arches hot-press watercolor paper. The image area of the painting is 5" x 7" . I have matted it with an acid-free white 8" x 10" mat.
