The top of this rag quilt is made of 40 squares cut from an assortment of cotton prints depicting themes of interest to Dad (including golf, football, baseball, cars, cookouts, billiards, hunting, and fishing) and 40 squares cut from a solid taupe quilting cotton. The back of the quilt is made of 40 squares cut from the same solid taupe quilting cotton used on the front and 40 squares cut from a solid ivory quilting cotton. Sandwiched between the top layer and the back layer of each square is one layer of a soft and fluffy solid brown cotton quilting flannel. All of the fabrics were cut six inches square and were sewn with the traditional “X” to hold the three layers together. The raggy edges are all half an inch, making the squares five inches after sewing. This rag quilt measures approximately 40 x 50 inches, and is eight squares high and ten squares wide. It's the perfect size to display over the back of a couch or easy chair, in a rocking chair, over the foot of a bed, as a wall hanging, or to cuddle up with for a nap. It would make a wonderful gift and a unique decoration. All of the fabrics used in this quilt were washed and ironed prior to cutting. After construction of this quilt was complete and all of the seams had been clipped, this rag quilt was machine washed and dried once to begin the ragging process.
