The high iron content allows it to be plated successfully with other metals. In this case, the stone is plated with titanium, then heated. The titanium surface turns into this brilliant rainbow. The Our Father bead is copper over hematite. The wrapped wire work is solid copper, and as I mentioned, the cross and fob are solid copper. Each Rainbow Copper Pocket Rosary has a hand cast cross and fob (centerpiece) in the Romantic Mary and Historic Cross designs. Hand wrapped wire beading completes a piece that will last through the years. Copper will patina over time, revealing highlights with your touch.
