Snowflake Obsidian Jewelry Set
Obsidian is formed when lava is quickly cooled forming glass. Color in obsidian varies, depending on impurities in the parent lava formation. Snowflake obsidian (also called "flowering obsidian") gets its name and patterns from cristobalite (a type of quartz) inclusions formed in the obsidian as it devitrifies. This jewelry set has round snowflake obsidian beads and an oval snowflake obsidian cabochon. The necklace is about 20" long. The pendant has scalped sterling silver wire surrounding the cabochon and is about 3" long. The earrings are single drops of snowflake obsidian dangling from sterling silver French hook ear wires and are about 1.5" long. All attempts have been made to photograph these items correctly in the natural light. However, colors can/do vary with everyone's individual monitors.
