"Summer City" 12x15 Black Wood Frame w/ Yellow Matte Included! Van Gogh experimented with the technique of impasto in his paintings. This experiment not only created textured surfaces but also added emotion and movement to the pieces. Closer examination observed the fluidity of the paints was enough to form trail threads where the brush lost contact from the canvas. The consistency, however, was fierce enough to make brush marks crisply apparent in the impasto. In "Summer City" I used a very heavy hand and tried to recreate strong, clear brush marks. This is my favorite painting of the 9 that I created last month. I used a blend of both Arteza Color Shifting Iridescent Acrylics & Metallic Acrylics in shades of yellow, navy blue, champagne gold and pearl white. Micro Glass Beads and Modeling Paste added, creating loads of texture!! Painted on 246lb. 400g. Acid Free Artist Paper. Two coats of satin varnish applied to protect the finished painting.
