Our Sorrowful Mysteries rosary is a five decade holy rosary created as an act of devotion and offered with love. As I made this, my husband asked if using black pearls to create a rosary dedicated to the Sorrowful Mysteries was a little “on the nose.” All pearls are associated with purity, but among them only black pearls symbolize of everlasting love. When could we need or appreciate the presence of everlasting love more than when contemplating these painful mysteries and their magnificent fruit? This five decade rosary measures approximately 26 inches around the loop, with an additional 5 inches for the pendant from the centerpiece to the bottom of the cross. The centerpiece itself is 20 mm and the crucifix is 40 mm. That translates to .75 inches and 1.5 inches (respectively) in golden bronze. The wire work and chain are solid brass. Overall, this rosary weighs 35 grams.
