These Brackets - Babyproof Your Shelves
- - - This Listing DOES NOT Include the Rods - - - This is a DIY kit to save you $ Stop your toddler, or an earthquake, from pulling all your books (or pots & pans) off the shelves, but easily get to them when you need to. Way back in 2013 when my Alex learned to crawl and grab everything, I had to make something that would keep him from constantly pulling all our books off the shelves. So I invented some wooden blocks that accepted a dowel or piece of metal tubing that locked the books on the shelf. He couldn't figure out how to remove it, but it's a piece of cake for adults. (at least all the ones I knew) Once he learned to stand and walk, we had to secure our upper shelves too. We had another little one a few years later, and our book cases needed to be locked once again. I imagine this is a universal problem, so I've made These Brackets in plastic now and here they are. One of my customers used it to secure open kitchen shelves to prevent constant bangs and clangs, and another in California did his entire library to protect it from earthquakes. The basic kit includes the blocks and screws to secure 4 shelves, and is made to accept a piece of 1/2" EMT conduit. (At any hardware store in the electrical aisle) Conduit is sturdy, and more perfectly round than most wooden dowel rods.
