Our beautiful wooden mancala boards are handmade in our family shop in Missouri. We use solid hardwoods and a classic hand-rubbed finish. The extra deep wells hold plenty of pieces--no more worries about your pieces spilling out! Each game includes a set of multi-colored glass playing pieces and a rule sheet. Custom engraving of names, dates, or a message on the back of the board is available. We'll send a proof so please watch for that message. Mancala is one name for a traditional game played in many cultures with a series of holes or cups and small stones or beads. We don't use stains on our wooden mancala games, so the cherry mancala boards start out a little lighter than other "cherry" products you'll find elsewhere. Over time the wood will darken to a deep rich red-brown color. Because of the natural variation in the wood, each handcrafted mancala game board has its own unique character. Yours will likely vary slightly from what is shown here in color or grain, but will be equally beautiful.
