Tara Lynn Pugh loves the escape painting provides as much as she loves teaching art. That’s why she sells finished dot-mandala stones and offers free How-to instructions for customers to make their own on MakerPlace, in her eponymous store, Tara Lynn Pugh Artiste.

In addition to making art and teaching, she runs two art clubs in each of her specialties.

On MakerPlace, she sells acrylic paintings but primarily teaches online painting parties. Perfect for friends and family scattered across the country, or even if everyone is all in one room, online painting parties are a wonderful way to connect with loved ones, especially for holidays and special occasions.

I am a dot mandala and multi-media artist who focuses on art for self-expression and relaxation,” says the artist, who lives with her husband, teenagers, and dogs in Cincinnati, Ohio. “I absolutely love the escape painting provides and I am excited to cheer others on their artistic paths.”

As a self-described “introverted soul and creative outsider,” art has always been Tara's sanctuary and guiding force. From a young age, she felt a deep connection to this path, knowing that creating was what she was meant to do. “My brand is my name because each piece of my art includes a piece of my soul. With art, I have become woman who isn’t afraid to have a voice and I want to share that with everyone.”

Here, Tara shares what she loves about creating, and why she thinks you may too in one of her classes or How-to DIY projects.

What drives you to create mandalas and mixed-media floral pieces?

Mandalas, patterns, and flowers help me find my calm and connection to the world. I love using my art as a form of self-reflection. When each piece is finished, I feel like it carries my personal voice and serves as a way for me to connect with others.

What makes your product unique?

Finding patterns is something we are naturally drawn to and there are so many different variations and unique perspectives that go into designing each piece of art. My artwork gives me calm and peace while creating it and makes me feel connected to the sacred geometry in everyday life.

What is your creative process and routine? What gets you in the "creative zone"?

A quiet room, a warmly lit candle, lots of paint color options and a space to get messy.
