Brookndale Crafts

I would like to say my crafting began when I starting working at my local "Big Chain Craft Store," but when I think about my childhood, I realize it really began there. As a child I was always helping my parents build their home. I realized that is where my love for making things really began. Even though I know I never would have become a crafter had I NOT worked at a craft store, the true beginning of my story started when I was just a child in my little hometown of Brookdale, New York (lovingly called by locals "Brookndale"). When I bought my first home and began decorating it, I realized that I didn't care for the decorations they sold in department stores. The ones I could afford weren't well made and the ones I loved were out of my budget. I decided to start cutting mine from solid wood. Soon enough, my entire house was decorated in handmade pieces, for every season and occasion! Everyone who visited my home commented on how cute my decorations were and it really gave me a sense of pride about my ability that I never had before. With this confidence I have been able to work on and tweak old patterns that I had lying around as well as coming up with some of my own designs.
