Welcome to Specialty Wood Designs! My name is Mike and I got the wood working bug back in 6th grade wood shop and never lost it. I started collecting machines later in life and have built quite a collection. Everything I have learned about my craft comes from three things: I have asked a lot of questions; I have read a lot of books; and I have made a lot of mistakes. Experience is an excellent teacher. Mostly, I have a tremendous passion for what I do. For me, a day in the shop is a place to forget about the world and find a small bit of peace. I love to see the beauty of the wood and sharing it with others. I make a variety of unique wood products for the home from cutting boards to lazy susans to salt and pepper shakers.
