Welcome to UrbanBaskets! I am JANICE PLANK and I create hand-coiled baskets for decor and gifting. My baskets are created with hand-dyed fibers and glass beads. No two baskets are alike! I have been making coiled baskets for over 25 years. As an art specialist for 43 years in pubic and private schools, hand-coiled basketry has been a part of my art curriculum for students. UrbanBaskets are made by wrapping a single strand of yarn fiber around a paper-core cord. A figure 8 stitch is used every 5-8 wraps to secure the wrapped coils as the basket takes shape. This method also ensures a sturdy, well-constructed basket. Hand-dyed yarns are used to ensure a quality product and unique colors. UrbanBaskets are perfect containers for snacks and candy, as a placeholder for wallets, keys, and glasses, office supplies, jewelry, children's toys, holiday decor items, plants, or simply a stand-alone work of art for your home or office.
