The yarn is nice to knit with as long as you watch that you haven't split your stitches. It splits very easily. Since it is only 10% alpaca, it is still machine washable. Important for children's sweaters.

I’m using this yarn, in Purple Aster, to make a blanket. It’s gorgeous and the texture is much softer than you’d imagine. It glides around my crochet hook with ease. I am on my second skein and have yet to find a knot or tangle of any kind. This is a top quality product as is typical of Lion Brand yarn. Although I was lucky enough to get a great discount on the skeins I purchased, I highly recommend this yarn at any price!

This yarn is fine, I guess. It seems a little sheddy and splits very easily. Like I said, it's fine but I'm not in love with it. It is a value though.

I should say I am a beginner, but a yarn snob already.  I strongly dislike acrylic yarn.  I bought a skein of this yarn in the charcoal color from the clearance rack at my store because I liked the feeling of it with the alpaca content.  Doing the Lion Brand® Touch Of Alpaca® Bonus Bundle Aurora Crochet Scarf pattern on the label and on the Michael’s Projects page.  I am spending my lunch hour working on this scarf.  Using a J 6.0mm hook.  I am a beginner.  The first couple rows were extremely difficult to control.  As I understand, the beginning is hard to work with no matter your skill level since you don’t have anything to really hold onto – it was frustrating for me to say the least.  To date this is the smallest yarn I have worked with so I am certain that added to my difficulties.  The yarn is soft to the touch but it is also soft as in mushy compared to my previous yarn experiences (which are limited). I also find that the yarn tends to grab split strands when I pull my hook through sometimes.  I think I have read or heard this referred to by others as “splity” – It does not have a sturdy ply but rather a relaxed ply.  Overall, I really like this yarn and it is getting easier to work with as the days progress…finished 4 days of lunches so far.  The scarf pattern is easy as it is double crochet and chains only, so I can still chat while I stitch.  I have 18” on my scarf with about 2.5 hours invested.  Makes a good lunch hour project for me.  The fabric of the scarf is taking on a nice look and even though we are going into spring, I hope to be able to wear it a couple times before the sun returns to Seattle.  Like this yarn well enough that I went and bought 12 skeins in the clearance priced black to do a blanket.  I hope the clearance price is not a sign that it is being discontinued, because I would like to work with this yarn in the future.

I LOVE this yarn.  The yarn knits and crochets well and doesn't fiber out on me like others sometimes do.  The colors are also amazing.  They are perfect for baby or adult and even the light colors aren't too "pastel".  The pink is a lovely ballerina pink, and the purple is a good heather-type purple.  The only bad part is trying to get my hands on some more!
