Michaels Return Policy

If your Michaels.com purchase does not meet your satisfaction, you may return it within two months (60 days) of purchase, except for online-only costumes and accessory kits, which must be returned 7 days prior to the holiday. To return an item, the item must be new, unused, and in its original packaging. You may return your order to any Michaels store or request a return through your online account. If you’re unable to request the return order through your online account or if you need help, please reach out to Customer Care at 1-800-MICHAELS (1-800-642-4235).

Michaels.com Purchases

Online Purchase Return - NEW!

Save time when you complete a return order from your online account. Built-in logic determines your return order process. Follow the steps below:

  1. Log into your michaels.com account and go to your Order History page.

  2. Click on “View Details” on the desired order.

  3. Select the Return button under the “Need Help?” box.

  4. Check the boxes next to the items to be returned and click Next.

  5. For each checked item, you will need to select the Return Reason and Condition. You will have the option to add notes and photo/video as needed.

  6. Once the return is submitted, you will receive next steps on the return and the refund’s timing.

  7. You can then click on the View Return Details button, which will bring you to your Return Order Details screen.

Without a Receipt (In Stores):

If you would like to return an item (excluding sample products) but do not have the receipt (packing slip or confirmation email), you will be required to present a valid photo ID (Acceptable forms of ID include U.S., Canada or Mexico Driver's License, U.S. state-issued ID, Canadian Provincial ID, Passport or U.S. Military ID). Michaels will make a reasonable attempt to assist in locating a receipt by offering receipt look-up for online or in-store purchases made with a Michaels Rewards number. For receipts that are located, returns will follow the Return with Receipt method. The item value will be verified and retained by the Michaels team member.

MichaelsPro® Purchases:

If you are not completely satisfied with an item, we will gladly offer you a refund within 60 days of purchase. All returns from a MichaelsPro order* require a Return Authorization, which can be obtained through our dedicated support line at 1-833-MIKEPRO (645-3776).

* Restocking fees may be applied for MichaelsPro returns.

Refunds:

The appropriate tax amount by item will be included with your refund. Original shipping and handling fees (if applicable) may be deducted from the value of your refund unless the return is a result of our error. Refunds will be issued in the same form as payment originally used for purchase except as specified below:

  • Purchases made with a debit card will be refunded as cash.
  • A Store Return Card will be issued for all purchases made using a gift card or gift receipt/purchases.

Exchanges:

At this time we do not offer exchanges. If you would like to exchange a product, please return it using our returns process and then place a new order.

Third Party Purchases

For purchases from third party sellers on Marketplace, please initiate a return online by selecting Orders within your Account and then selecting Create a Return. Upon initiating a Return, you will receive a pre-paid UPS Shipping label to send the product directly back to the Marketplace seller.

For purchases from third party sellers on MakerPlace, please initiate a return online by selecting Orders within your Account and then selecting Create Return. Once the return is approved by the seller, the seller is responsible for coordinating the return with you. You will bear the cost of return shipping to the seller.

Marketplace and MakerPlace products are not eligible for in-store returns. Each Marketplace and MakerPlace seller has a different return policy which was noted at the time of purchase. Please refer to their storefront page or contact the seller for their updated return policy.

Michaels Store Purchases

Return with Receipt:

If your Michaels purchase does not meet your satisfaction, it may be returned or exchanged at any Michaels location for the full purchase amount within 60 days. Refunds will be offered in the original method of payment, except:

  • Purchases made with a debit card will be refunded as cash.

  • A Store Return Card will be issued for all purchases made using a gift card or gift receipt.

  • Returns purchased with a check require a 10 day waiting period. Check purchases within 10 days may be refunded on Return Card.

  • Online purchases made using PayPal will be refunded in cash (up to $500, otherwise please contact customer care).

  • All returns and exchanges must be new, unused and in original packaging, with exceptions for defective merchandise or products.

  • Our policy also covers your online purchases that can be returned to any Michaels location or by following the online return instructions on the packing slip, some restrictions apply. In store purchases may not be returned online.

Return without Receipt:

All Michaels Stores will require proof of purchase for returns or exchanges. Michaels will make every attempt to assist in locating a receipt by offering receipt look-up for purchases made with a credit or debit card. For receipts located, returns will follow the Return with Receipt method described above.

  • For returns in which the receipt cannot be located, a valid photo ID (U.S., Canada or Mexico Driver's License, U.S. state-issued ID, Canadian Provincial ID, Passport or U.S. Military ID.) must be presented by customer and will be recorded at the time of the return.
  • Information from a customer ID will be retained in a secure database solely for purposes of refund authorization and fraud prevention.

  • Refunds will be given at the item's lowest price sold within the previous 90 days.
  • Refunds will be in the form of a Store Return Card and/or merchandise exchange.

**Exceptions to General Return Policy:

  • Cricut® Products are returnable or exchangeable only if the packaging is unopened and a receipt is provided. Items damaged or deemed defective during the manufacturer’s warranty period must be returned directly to the manufacturer, except returns as required by law.

    • Glowforge® Machines and Filters can only be returned with a receipt within 14 days of purchase if the box is sealed and unopened. Glowforge® Pro (10685318), Glowforge® Plus (10685321) and Glowforge® Compact air filter (10685323) cannot be returned in stores. Please contact customer care to initiate a return. For opened box troubleshooting, or items damaged or deemed defective during the manufacturer’s warranty period, please contact Glowforge customer care within 14 days of purchase at 1-855-338-2122 or on their website.

  • Opened trading cards will be considered damaged and are not returnable.
  • Gift Cards and Prepaid Cards are not returnable or exchangeable, except where required by law.

  • Custom Framing orders may be reworked at the same store location within 14 days of pickup.

  • Classes are refundable up to start date of class.

  • Online or in-store sales of cut fabric are final sale and are not returnable or exchangeable, except where required by law.

  • Michaels reserves the right to limit returns or exchanges.

  • Clearance sales are considered final, sold AS IS and are not returnable for a refund or exchange.

  • Parties can be cancelled with a refund issued up to 7 days prior to date of party. Within 7 days no refunds will be given.
